Festival of Food

We had a fabulous day in October celebrating the finest small producers in Dorset. Produce included local cheeses, pies, bread, chutneys and preserves, fresh vegetables, meats and fish and much more. Customers enjoyed an additional 10% discount on all purchases made in Compton Acres.

Thank you for coming along and supporting this event. It was such a success, we have decided to run another Festival of Food in November.

We are planning to make this a regular monthly event in 2013.

Extraordinary Exotics Event

Thanks to everyone who attended our Extraordinary Exotics Event in August.

The event started with a tour of the exotic treasures we have in the gardens here at Compton Acres and was lead by our resident gardener. Followed by an inspirational talk on growing exotic plants in our climate by Rob Gudge from Desert to Jungle.

Tea, sandwiches and cream tea canapes were served with a spectacular view of Poole Harbour in the glorious sunshine. Finally, the opportunity to buy some really unusual exotic plants. An enjoyable way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Rose Day and Evening Meal

We had a fantastic Rose Day event back in June. A specialist from David Austin Roses was at hand on the day, to answer all your rose care questions and help with selecting the best rose for your garden.

We also hosted an evening meal in the Café with an informative talk about roses from Graham Clarke. Graham is the former Editor of Horticulture Week and horticultural writer for Amateur Gardening magazine.

A very enjoyable rose filled day, and thanks to everyone who came along to support the event.
