The Wooded Valley
The Wooded Valley is one of the most peaceful areas of Compton Acres, with a rich mix of trees and shrubs sheltered beneath mature Scots pines. Meandering paths lead through cascades, pools and open glades, creating a calm woodland atmosphere with changing colour and texture across the seasons.

Woodland Planting and Rare Specimens
Notable planting includes Camellia ‘C.F. Coates’, recognised for its forked leaf tips, Rhododendron falconeri and just where the wooded valley borders the subtropical link you will see an impressive specimen of the unusual Wollemi pine (Wollemia nobillis). Terrace planting features woodland favourites including Podophyllum hexandrum, Impatiens omeiana, Arisaema candidissima and Uvularia grandiflora, with Cyclamen hederifolium and Galanthus nivalis appearing throughout the valley. Around the bog garden glades, recent additions include tree ferns, Dicksonia antarctica, and the striking white stems of Betula utilis jacquemontii ‘Snow Queen’.
A naturally styled children’s nature area is located at the far end of the valley.
